What is Plastic?

The term ‘’plastic’’ is derived from the Greek word ''plastikos'' meaning fit for moulding, and ''plastos'' meaning moulded.
Plastic is synthetic or Semisynthetic organic polymer.
Plastic is usually synthetic, most commonly derived from petrochemicals, but Many are partially natural.

Classification of Plastic
Usually plastic is classified by their structure of the polymers backbone and side chain. Many important groups are
acrylics, polyesters, silicones, polyurethanes, and halogenated plastics. Plastics can also be classified by the chemical process used in their synthesis, such as condensation, polyaddition, and cross-linking

There is two type of plastics
There are two main categories of plastic materials: ThermopPlastic  and Thermosetting plastics. Thermoplastics can be heated up to form products and then if these end products are re-heated, the plastic will soften and melt again.  In contrast, thermoset plastics can be melted and formed, but once they take shape after they have solidified, they stay solid and, unlike thermoplastics cannot be remelted.
